How this site is built
This is a demo entry — long on purpose. It shows what happens to a long
Entry on the front page: everything before the <!-- more --> marker below is
shown as the summary, and the rest is cut off with a word-count link.
The stack
The site is built with Zola, a static site generator written in Rust. Three content sections feed one mixed timeline:
# content/_index.md
transparent = true
A transparent root section aggregates entries/, blogmarks/, and til/
into a single reverse-chronological stream — which is also what makes a
combined Atom feed possible at /atom.xml.
No JavaScript
There is no JavaScript anywhere on this site. Dark mode is a pure
prefers-color-scheme media query; the header chips and the Highlights
sidebar are computed at build time by the template engine.
Why three types?
- Entry — long-form writing, like this.
- Blogmark — a link to something elsewhere, plus commentary.
- TIL — a short "today I learned" note.
That is the whole content model. The front page shows full text of short entries and truncates long ones, because the front page is meant to be read, not scanned for excerpts.
And a code block, for good measure
fn main() {
println!("This is what code highlighting looks like in both themes.");
}
The syntax colors switch with the site theme: catppuccin latte in light mode, catppuccin mocha in dark mode.
